What is Perlane?

Perlane is an injectable dermal filler administered by Dr. Youssef to reduce facial lines and wrinkles. It can also be used as a filler for lip augmentation. In addition, Perlane can be utilized to enhance the contour of facial skin. Both men and women can benefit from this treatment option.

What is Perlane made of?

Perlane is a non-animal filler made of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally found in the body’s connective tissue. Because it is resilient it can readily adapt and mold to the contours of the face. No skin test is needed prior to administering Perlane. The filler poses no risk of allergic reaction.

How does Perlane work?

As one ages, the body’s natural supply of hyaluronic acid decreases. Perlane is used to reverse the signs of aging, i.e. lines and wrinkles, by increasing the body’s natural supply of hyaluronic acid.

What are the benefits of Perlane?

Unlike the once very popular collagen injections, Perlane is safer. Results also last longer and appear more natural simply because it contains hyaluronic acid, a substance that is naturally produced in the body.

Can Perlane be used in combination with other products?

Absolutely. Perlane can be used in combination with other cosmetic enhancements, such as Botox.

What conditions can be treated using Perlane?

• facial wrinkles
• lip and chin enhancement
• acne scars
• fine lines around the mouth, lip, forehead and nose
• crease lines around the nasolabial region
• facial depressions
• hollows around the eyes

When can one see results?

Generally, results are noticeable after 4-8 months. However, frequent touch-ups for regions around the lips and chin may be necessary every 4-6 months. Typically, other facial regions remain wrinkle free for 6-8 months.

How long does a treatment session last?

Injections typically last between 30 to 45 minutes.

Are additional treatments necessary?

Because results are not permanent, in the case of most persons, a treatment session is necessary once a year. If treatment does not occur, wrinkles will appear again.

Is the injection painful?

Minimal pain is associated with the injection. Dr. Youssef can apply an anesthetic to the treatment area prior to the injection.

Are there any side effects?

Allergic reaction, granuloma formation or any other side effects are rare. Common side effects include tenderness, itching, swelling and redness. These side effects are temporary and should subside within a few weeks.

What is the difference between Restylane and Perlane?

Perlane contains more hyaluronic molecules. Because of this Perlane is a larger molecule. Thus, it can treat deep skin wrinkles, scars and creases better. For fair skinned persons, Restylane can be utilized to treat more subtle lines.
